types of soils residual and transported soils

There are two types of soils:

1) Residual Soils

2)Transported Soils

=> Residual Soils:
The soil originated at one place and deposit at the same place is called Residual soils.

=> Transported Soils:
The soil originate at one place and deposit at another place due to any environmental conditions like Wind, rain, etc. is called as transported soils.

Transported soils are divided into some types:

1) Alluvial Soils
2) Aeolian Soils
3) Glacial Soils
4) Lacustrine Soils
5) Marine Soils

Alluvial Soils:

=> The fragments sediments of rocks transported by water are settled on river bed and surroundings.
=>28% of Indian area is alluvial soil.
=> It is fertile soil.
=> The load bearing capacity of alluvial soils are moderate.

Aeolian Soils:

=> These soils are transported by the wind.
=>These transports from one place to another place.

Glacial Soils:

=> It is formed by the glaciers and icebergs
=> It contains mixture of boulders, gravels, sand, silt and clay, etc.

Lacustrine Soils:

=> These are deposited by still water agent such as lakes
=>Where ever the water is fresh then we can see these lacustrine soils.

Marine Soils:

=> These are sand, silts and clays deposited by salty water or ocean water.
=>Soil is very soft
=> Soil have high compressibility and shear strength is low.
=> We can see these soils near sea's, oceans and Islands, etc.
