Step-1: First of all you have to apply for gate examination in the civil branch related and

Step-2: Prepare for gate examination and after successful completion of exam you have to wait for results, you should get qualify with a good mark and then after you can send letter or mails to institutions you want to join in PhD. 

Step3-: So, after completion of B. Tech, you can directly go for PHD without completion of M. Tech.
